Sponsorship Information
We are currently seeking sponsors so that we may compete in the 2009 robot competition.  We have competed for the last two years in the FIRST Robotics competition but our initial grant has run out.  In order to compete next year, we require approximately $15,000 that corresponds with the breakdown given in the pie chart to the right.  We offer 3 sponsorship levels, with varying rewards for your sponsorship as outlined below.
Sponsorship Background

We are members of the Slidell High School Robotics team.  Next year will be our third year participating in the US FIRST Robotics Competition.  Our teachers, team members and mentors will donate time and expertise to these efforts, and we are hoping that you will help us.

FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) is a non-profit organization whose goal is to generate an interest in science and engineering among today’s youth. FIRST was founded in 1989 to inspire young people's interest and participation in science and technology. Based in Manchester, NH, the 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit public charity designs accessible, innovative programs that motivate young people to pursue education and career opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and math, while building self-confidence, knowledge, and life skills. Since 1989, FRC has grown from 28 teams involved to over 1,300 today.

The organization holds annual robotics competitions in which participants must build a robot to compete in a game.  This competition immerses high school students in the exciting world of engineering and technology.  We team up with engineers who mentor us and give us a hands-on, inside look at the engineering profession.  Our team is given six weeks to brainstorm, design, construct, and test our robot.  This robot is then sent to our regional competition in New Orleans, and if we do well in that competition it will be sent to Atlanta for the national competition.

This program builds a partnership between schools, businesses, and universities, and provides an exchange of resources and talent.  It is a way for all of us to discover the important connection between classroom lessons and real world applications.  It is an excellent opportunity for everyone to come together as a team and support the youth who will grow to become the much-needed engineers and technicians of tomorrow’s labor pool, as well as being great fun!

Without the generous sponsorship from business and community members our program would not be possible.  We would like to schedule a meeting for our team to demonstrate the talents of our robot which was used for previous competitions and to discuss ways in which you may be able to help our team achieve our goals.  The team is supported by the St. Tammany Parish School Board which is a non-profit organization under section (170) of the IRS code, making your donations tax deductible.
