The Game
The Robot
The 2007 Rack 'N Roll game had two main scoring components.  During autonomous and the main game, the main scoring objective was to hang large intertubes onto a rack that was in the center of the playing field.  This rack had 3 rows of 8 places to hang the intertubes.  Scoring was on an exponential progression with each intertube in a row increasing the score.  The scoring order for each consecutive intertube in a row was 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, and 256.  An intertube by itself was only worth 2 points.  The other scoring method came through the endgame, where for each robot that was lifted off the ground, bonus points were awarded.  A robot 4 inches off the ground was worth 15 points, a robot 12 inches off the ground - 30 points.
The Tyborg's 2007 robot was based on a primary lifting concept.  Since bonus points were such a significant scoring system most of the weight allotment on our robot went into the lifting mechansim.  Our lifting mechanism was based on two ramps (one on each side of the robot, independantly controlled).  The remaining weight was used to provide a secondary arm in order to manipulate the intertubes.

We competed in the Bayou Regional, where we finished 3rd after qualification rounds.  We were team captain for our alliance that consisted of teams 709 and 1858 in the championship elimination rounds.  We lost in the semi-finals of the elimination rounds.  This was a rookie year for our team and we won two awards at the Bayou Regional.  We won the Rookie All Stars award which allowed us to go to the championships in Atlanta, and we also won Highest Seeded Rookie.

At Nationals we competed in the Newton Division where we qualified 23.  The following charts complements of the Blue Alliance shows our performance for the Bayou Regional and the Newton Championship Contests.  Also featured below is a picture of our robot.
